HEB annouced today a new promotion to save money on gas.  Simply buy an HEB Gas Gift Card and swipe it at the pump to automatically save 11 cents per gallon on gas!  For an avg 15 gallon tank, that is $ 1.65 savings or 20 gallons is $2.20.  If you printed the $5 off $15 GC earlier today, be sure to use it in combination with the 11 cent deal for greater savings. Valid thru 10/31/11.

WalMart has a similar promo right now.  Buy the special WM Gas Gift Card in the store, and use it at the pump to save $0.10/gallon automatically. Valid thru 9/30/11.

One note - Some credit card companies (Ex: Chase and Discover) are offering 5% bonus this quarter on gas.  If you buy the gift card, it counts as a Grocery Purchase and therefore will not receive 5%.  If gas is $3.50/gallon, you will receive $0.175 per gallon back in Cashback Bonus which is better than saving $0.10/gallon or  $0.11/gallon.  Be sure you have signed up with your credit card company to maximize your savings and bonus offers.

Choose the scenario that is better for you based upon your method of payment.  If you use cash, HEB has the best deal.

2 - Check your local credit union.  Austin Telco FCU offers one day adult admission for $32.43.

3 - If you buy your tickets online here and use your Discover Card, you will save 5% instantly.  There is a Summer Online Only Special thru 9/11/11 for $34.99 for any age one-day admission.  $34.99 - $1.75 (5%) = $33.24 each.
